An outline of the Institutional Benefit and Loan Program.

Following is an outline of our Institutional Benefit and Loan Program. Vienna Piano Co. is currently hosting this program with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Delbarton School and J.F.K. Medical Center. This program truly inspires all that is good about music, commerce, and caring about those less fortunate than ourselves.

This outline describes how the program works, and what it takes to implement it in a successful manner. Please review it and if it sounds like it would be beneficial we can discuss the process in more detail.

Overview Of The Program

There are three parts:

1. Vienna Piano will provide pianos to the institution at no charge. These pianos can be used in the facilities of your choice, depending on your current needs. The instruments can be used in your public areas, in family waiting areas or in various client areas. JFK Medical Center has a piano in their child care center. Delbarton School uses the pianos in their music department. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has instruments in their lobby and in their Children's Hospital interactive area.

2. Vienna Piano will provide between one and four times per year (at no charge) musical programs and performances based on your institutions wants and needs. For example: we give a lecture/performance series on various composers. In this program we talk a little about the composer and perform some of their works in one of your public areas. Another type of musical program that we can provide is to work directly with your music therapists to assist them with any program that they are currently implementing. We can also provide mobile music for your clients by bringing a small electric keyboard directly into their rooms and playing quiet, healing music for them.
Actually, you may find, as Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital did, that many of your doctors, nurses and clients already play. They then unknowingly become your impromptu music therapists. These instruments lift the spirits and morale of your staff, your clients and their families.

3. Once a year, at the facility of your choice, these pianos along with seventy to one hundred pianos from Vienna Piano will be sold to the public.
The sale is held in one of your facilities and is a three day event. The first two days are by appointment only, and three to five appointments are booked every hour from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The third day is an open day and no appointments are needed. We operate that day on a first come-first served basis, and generally the hours are from 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm. The days we need to run the event are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, however, the facility must be available to us starting the Tuesday before the event through the Monday after the event. We begin loading in pianos on Tuesday, and we complete our load out by Monday evening. Pianos that are purchased at the event will be delivered during the event itself.

We will offer a piano seminar on Thursday evening from 7:30 until 9:30. This is an entertaining and informative session that deals with the process of how to purchase and make a good decision about a piano. We cover the differences between a quality piano and a poorly built one, the benefits of music for children and much more.

Specifics to consider:

Location: Typically, a large, open, well lit area is needed to display the pianos at the event. A large auditorium, atrium or common area work well for us. A final walk through of your facility will be done prior to your approval.

Timing: The sale must not conflict with other events in the facility, or on our calendar for other events.

Support: Financially, nothing is required of the institutions for whom we provide this program. But we need support from you in other ways. The first is the use of your facility for the sale. The second, and most important, is that you help us get the word out about the program and the sale to your employees, faculty, staff and local community. This is done by sending a letter about two weeks prior to the actual event. We write the letter in your name, and once you have approved it we print it and sent it out. We pay all costs associated with this. A sample letter from one our past events and a list of references are enclosed for your consideration.

Every institution that we have provided this program for has been thrilled. It creates an ongoing event that is inspiring and uplifting to the community and it creates musical opportunities for families and children. If you decide to take advantage of this opportunity, we will discuss in further detail the process and implementation of this program. We look forward to the opportunity of working with you in the near future.

Below is a sample of the letter that was sent for the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Benefit Sale of 2002.

January 2, 2002

To our Friends and Supporters of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital,

If you have visited the hospital in the past few months, you will have noticed that new pianos have been installed for the therapeutic and entertainment benefit of our patients, staff and visitors. These instruments are being loaned to the hospital at no charge through the Vienna Piano Institutional Loan Program. This program has made it possible for our patients to enjoy the many benefits of music in tandem with our uncompromising medical care.

The current loan period is coming to an end, however, and it is time for these instruments to be sold to make room for the new pianos that will be replacing the ones already used.

The instruments used throughout our hospital as well as additional pianos from Vienna Piano Company will be assembled in the hospital atrium for a benefit sale on January 18, 19, and 20, 2002. There will be grand pianos of all sizes, console and studio pianos, and player piano systems.

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital will receive a financial contribution from the sale of these pianos, as well as new pianos for the hospital for the coming year.

There are two ways for you to purchase these pianos:

1.) As a letter holder you may preview and purchase pianos prior to Sunday, January 26, by appointment. To arrange an appointment, call 908-852-0980. Appointments are suggested and are limited to 50 scheduled times. Appointments will be given on a first call first served basis. This will give you priority status for best pricing and selection. Appointments will be available on the Friday and Saturday preceding the public sale on Sunday.

2.) You may attend the general public sale on Sunday January 26 from noon till 5:00 p.m. in the Arline and Henry Schwartzman Courtyard at the hospital.

Selection on Sunday will be based on prior sales by appointment and will be on a first come first served basis.

Music and Medicine are changing the lives of our patients and staff. Come be a part of this tremendous opportunity.

Sincerely,

Stephen K. Jones
Senior Vice President, Operations
